Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar
Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar was born in India in 1921. A philosopher, writer, linguist, and composer, he dedicated his life to promoting the well-being of humanity.
In 1955, he founded the organization Ananda Marga (Path of Bliss), with the goal of promoting the integral development of the human being — physical, mental, and spiritual.
In the 1960s, he created AMURT (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team), a community relief and development organization. In the 1970s, he founded AMURTEL (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Ladies), focused specifically on women and children.
Sarkar also developed the Neo-Humanist education method, which seeks to cultivate in students a love for all living beings and respect for nature. This method is the pedagogical foundation of AMURT schools around the world.
Neo-Humanism goes beyond traditional humanism, expanding the circle of compassion to include animals, plants, and the entire ecosystem. This philosophy guides all educational activities at AMURT São Paulo.
